Maryland Health Care for All! is a pro-public health care organization that has been pushing for an additional 10ยข tax on all alcoholic beverages sold in the State of Maryland. Said tax money would go directly into...that's right, public health care. They have been asking candidates to
sign their petition pledging to support this alcohol tax in order to promote the following: expand Medicare; create new, community-based prevention and treatment programs; fund new mental health facilities; somehow prevent tobacco addiction; and increase training opportunities for health care personnel. In essence, the proposal is for a new tax to create new and expanded government health care related programs.
Who has signed off on this program?
146 candidates including 10 Republicans. What concerns and disappoints me the most about all this is that the Republican State Senate candidate running in my district,
Bruce Kahl, has signed off on this measure. Say it ain't so, Bruce!
